Mission Statement

MDOT’s Mission for BRAC is “to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of people and goods to support Maryland’s military installations while sustaining and enhancing the quality of transportation and Maryland’s communities throughout the State.” This mission will be achieved through the collaborative work of MDOT’s modal agencies: the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), State Highway Administration (SHA), Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), Maryland Port Administration (MPA), Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA), and Maryland Transportation Authority (MdTA).

The entire MDOT Team is committed to working with our military and federal, state, and local government partners to make both the initial and long-term transportation needs associated with the BRAC process go as smoothly as possible.  Key to the success of the BRAC Transportation Action Plan is the partnership with the Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED), which, was designated as the lead agency for coordinating the state's BRAC activities, and the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP).  Just as important, if not more, will be the partnership MDOT has and will continue to develop with key stakeholders, including BRAC communities, local governments, military alliances, and the current and future citizens of Maryland.
